Pauline H. Murphy

Pauline Hlad Murphy, 69, of Scottsville, KY, passed away Friday October 24, 2014 at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, TN. She was born September 25, 1945 in Morgantown, a daughter of the late Fred and Nellie Wallace Hlad. Pauline graduated from WVU with a Bachelor's Degree in education. She later earned her Master's degree from Western Kentucky. She was a 1st grade school teacher. She taught for 12 years in Michigan and later taught for 23 years at Happy Valley Elementary in Glasgow, KY. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women's Association in Scottsville, KY. Pauline was a generous and caring educator. She was greatly involved in her church and community and was well respected throughout her community. Most of all she valued spending time with family and friends. She will be greatly missed by them all. Pauline is survived by two brothers Fred Hlad Jr. of Wheeling, WV, Alfred Hlad of Cassville; four sisters Shirley Ann Hlad of Cassville, Dorothy Jane Hlad Ferrise of Suncrest, Nellie Jean Miller of Morgantown, Mary Sue Hlad of Cassville; two great aunts Rose Hlad, Ann Chico both of Morgantown; cousin Louis Hlad of Morgantown; her godson David Miller and wife Gail of Spring, TX and their children Amanda and Christopher; several nieces and nephews; and her best friend and traveling friend Darlene Bray of Scottsville, KY. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Steve Wright. Funeral services will be held Wednesday October 29, 2014 at 11am at Cassville United Methodist Church with Pastor Barbara Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
