Patricia (Patty) Jane Shay Mayle

Patricia Jane Shay Mayle, 86, entered into rest September 24, 2018, a lifelong resident of Congress Avenue and Stafford Street, Star City. She was born April 21, 1932 to the late John H. Shay Sr and Nora A. (Clark) Shay. Patty enjoyed sitting on her front porch, enjoying her neighborhood. She lovingly raised six children and one grandchild and crocheted many comforting items for her family. She is survived by her son, Charles "Jim" Mayle and spouse Ann; four daughters Kathy Alleman and spouse Dan, Jeannie Mason, Patricia R. Warnick, and Nora Hewitt and spouse Chris; a grandson that she raised as a son, Benjamin Mayle; 17 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Patty will be reunited with her husband of 55 years, Charles James Mayle Sr. who she married in 1950 and lost in February 2006. Also preceding Patty in death, daughter, Jo Ellen Tackett; three brothers, John Shay Jr, Robert and Franklin Shay; granddaughter, Erin Alleman. In Patty's words, "I had a long life, now I am gone to a heavenly place. Don"t shed no tears for me. God made me from a little girl to a mother, grandmother, then great-grandmother. Think of happy memories as days go by." Family and friends will be received at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home, Thursday, September 27th from 3pm until 7pm. Visitation will continue on Friday, September 28th from 10am until the time of service at 11am with Rev. Neil Leftwich officiating. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
