Pamela Elaine Greathouse

Pamela Elaine Greathouse, born on April 9, 1961, in Morgantown, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026, following a lifetime of extraordinary courage. Over the years, Pam faced several different forms of cancer that she overcame, meeting each diagnosis with remarkable determination and unwavering hope. Time and again, she fought her way back, overcoming challenges that would have discouraged many. Though her final battle with lung cancer ultimately claimed her life, it never diminished her spirit, her resilience, or the grace with which she lived. Her strength inspired all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. 

Pam was a devoted wife to her husband of 40 years, Michael W. Greathouse, and a loving mother to her son, Michael W. Greathouse, Jr., and his wife, Melissa, and her daughter, Carrie Greathouse. She cherished her role as a grandmother, best known as 'Nan,' to Tagin and Ryan Wilson and Monroe Greathouse, believing that family was her greatest treasure.

Pam also had a special bond with her siblings, Richard Shaffer, Marsha (Tom) Shillingburg, Kim (Rick) Adams, and Patti Greathouse, as well as with her father-in-law, Moody W. Greathouse, and her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, including Mark Greathouse, Herb Snyder, and Cathy (Jeff) Zinn.

Her parents, Richard and Jo Ann Shaffer, along with her mother-in-law, Jean P. Greathouse, and sister, Stephanie Snyder, and sisters-in-law, Cheryl (Danny) Arbogast, as well as Vicki (Randy) Thorn, precede her in death, leaving behind cherished memories and a loving legacy.

Pam was an enthusiastic fan of the WVU Mountaineers, taking delight in cheering for her team. She also especially enjoyed cheering against the Pittsburgh Steelers. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as feeding deer and observing the beauty of wildlife around her.

Her career began at the Morgan Shirt Factory and various glass factories, ultimately dedicating many years to the housekeeping service industry, retiring from WVU Linen Services.

A celebration of Pamela's life is being planned and will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers or other gifts, the family asks that donations be made in Pamela's memory to a fund dedicated to honoring Pam's memory by supporting lung cancer research and patient care at WVU Medicine, where she received treatment during her final journey.
