Opal V. Boyce

March 20, 1922 — February 18, 2015

Opal Virginia Boyce, 92, of Morgantown, WV, passed away on Wednesday, February, 18, 2015, at the Madison Rehabilitation Hospital. She was born March 20, 1922, in Morgantown, daughter to the late Leslie Earl Summers and Bessie Virginia Murray. Opal worked as a cook for many years for the Monongalia County Board of Education and retired from WVU Hospitals. She kept busy after her retirement as a caretaker, and worked on the Mon County Election Board for more than 40 years. She had many hobbies including, playing cards, sewing and looked forward to trips to the Sagebrush Round-up. Opal is survived by her two sons, Larry Boyce and wife Mary Lew; Lanny Boyce and wife Joan; daughters, Sharon Cale and Pam Triplett and husband Mel all of Morgantown; seven grandchildren, Chris Boyce and wife Ann-Marie of Clayton, OH, Steve Boyce of Lexington, SC, Jerry Boyce and wife Roxanne of Morgantown, Lana Boyce of Morgantown, Theresa Andre and companion Michael Hill of Westover, Marlana Calvert and husband Jeremiah of Masontown, WV and Sara Triplett of Charleston, WV; 12 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and best friends and neighbors Darla and Wade Opal was the last surviving member of her family and was preceded in death by 11 siblings; her husband Franklin Wadsworth Boyce; son-in-law, Marvin Cale; grandson Blair Edward Boyce and great-grandson, Mason Andre. Friends may call at the Fred Jenkins Funeral Home on Sunday Feb. 22, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm and again on Monday from 10am until time of services at 11am with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Hills Cemetery.
