Olive Fern Snyder

Olive Fern Snyder, 98, of Morgantown passed away Friday August 16, 2013 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was born October 5, 1914 in Burton, WV daughter to the late Newton and Mary Robinson. Olive was a graduate of Hundred High School. Following the death of her husband in 1954, Olive decided to attend business school and then proceeded to work for the Monongalia County Board of Education. Later she would find employment at the WVU School of Engineering where she retired as an administrative assistant. She was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Morgantown where she was very active in church functions throughout her life. Olive was very independent even until her death. She is survived by her son, James J. Snyder of Morgantown; two grandsons, Jeffrey Brooks Snyder and wife Sherry of Downingtown, PA and Marc Alan Snyder and wife Marti Haykin of Greensburg, PA; four great grandchildren, Michael Snyder and wife Caitlin, Madeline Snyder and Rachel and Katie Snyder. Olive was the last surviving member of her family. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Aldon Brooks Snyder and daughter-in-law, Mary Alice Snyder. Friends may call at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Wednesday August 21, 2013 from 6pm until 8pm. Olive will lie in repose at the First Baptist Church of Morgantown on Thursday Aug. 22 from noon until time of services at 1pm with Rev. Richard Hepler officiating. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
