Nettie ‘Sam’ Esther Moore Rexroad Zeni

April 7, 1942 — January 27, 2018

Nettie ‘Sam’ Esther Moore Rexroad Zeni, 75, of Terra Alta, WV, formerly of Morgantown, passed away January 27, 2018, at the home of her daughter, surrounded by her loving family.

The daughter of the late Elwood Lloyd Moore and Mary Catherine St. Clair, she was born April 7, 1942 in Somerset, PA.

Nettie was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Ursula Court and Happy H. She was also a member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher. Nettie loved to bake and enjoyed baking cakes for all of her family and friend’s birthdays, she also had made cakes for numerous weddings and baby showers. She worked for Coombs Florist in Morgantown for many years. Nettie was able to sew and get a stain out of anything, her favorite motto was “don’t cuss, call us”. Most of all Nettie loved taking care of her family and nobody ever left her house hungry.

Nettie is survived by daughters, Shelley Lynn Rexroad and her significant other, James Reed Shillito, of Terra Alta, and Kathryn Marie Zeni of Raleigh, NC; her grandchildren: Melissa A. Rosenberger of Uniontown, PA, Brent K. Rosenberger and spouse, Abigail Freeland, of Terra Alta, Jeremy R. Rosenberger and significant other, Shawnee Jones, of Morgantown, Brandon S. Rosenberger and spouse, Andraa, of Morgantown, Jason Alfonso of Vero Beach, FL, and Tyler Dowden of Raleigh, NC; great grandchildren, Brenlyn Hutson, Kirstyn Rosenberger, Garrett Rosenberger, and Lincoln Freeland. Nettie is also survived by her best friend, Susie Blosser and spouse, Glen of Morgantown, and longtime friend Louise DeVall and spouse, Ron of Morgantown; and her loving cat Rasche. She will forever be known simply as “Mam”.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her, brother, Earl “Sonny” Moore; her first husband, Jack William Rexroad (2002); and the love of her life, whom she married on August, 31, 1974, Steve Zeni, Jr. (2014).

In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made in Nettie’s memory to WV Caring, PO Box 760 Arthurdale, WV 26520.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Jean and Debbie from WV Caring for the care and compassion given to Nettie.

Family and friends will be received at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home Wednesday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm and again Thursday, February 1, 2018 at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church from 10am until the 11am Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. John V. DiBacco as celebrant. Burial will follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery.
