Nelson Eugene Cox

Nelson Eugene Cox, 62, of Mountainview Road, Morgantown found comfort with the Lord on Saturday September 2, 2017 with his family by his side.

He was born in Morgantown on November 5, 1954 son to the late Forest and Wilma Jones Cox. He graduated from Morgantown High School in 1973 and then went to work for the city of Morgantown. He retired in 2005 with 35 years of service. He always had a smile to greet all. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and a friend to many.

Nelson is survived by his wife Kay Dalton Cox of who he married on August 29, 1981; They celebrated their 36-year anniversary just a few short days ago. Also surviving is his daughter, Tamra ‘Doodle’ Stevens and husband Mark, the pride and joy of his life were his grandchildren, Brenna, Mathias and Micalynn Stevens; nephew Russell Allen Cox and many other nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.

In his younger years, Nelson was an avid hunter and loved to camp. He also loved going to church and had a beautiful bass singing voice. On Sundays he would first attended God’s Family Bible Church and would leave those services to attend evening services at the Mt. View Pentecostal Church before his health would no longer permit. He was Pentecostal by faith.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Russell Cox; his mother and father-in-law, Rev. Casper and Addie Dalton and several brothers and sisters-in-law.

Nelson will be missed by many family members and friends.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017 at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home from 4 to 8pm and again on Wednesday from 1pm until time of services at 2pm. Officiating will be Pastor Donna Dalton and Brother Casper Dalton, Jr. and Brother Marv Dalton. He will be laid to rest in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

The family would like to thank all of those who came to Nelson’s aid in his time of need including, Cool Springs VFD, Mon County EMS, Trooper JT Gallaher and numerous family and friends.
