Mottie 'Mutt' William Pavone

May 26, 1940 — May 7, 2015

Mottie William "Mutt" Pavone, 74, of Morgantown, WV passed away at home on Thursday May 7, 2015 surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with cancer and cardiac disease. He was born May 26, 1940 to his late parents Mottie Joseph Pavone and Rose Poropatt Pavone. Bill was a Morgantown entrepreneur and owner of Mutt's Place, Hampton North Mobile Home Park, and Pavone Rentals for over fifty years. Bill was a graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School in 1958 and received his degree from West Virginia University. He was a volunteer referee for intramural children's basketball in Monongalia County. He loved spreading cheer at area grocery stores during the Christmas season by randomly surprising children as Santa's helper wearing his Santa hat and handing out money envelopes. He cherished spending time with his family and friends and was the ultimate story teller. He enjoyed watching Mountaineer sports and his favorite lady, Judge Judy. He loved cooking for his family and was known for preparing his famous fettuccine alfredo. Bill is survived by his six children Yvette (Tom) Seldenright of Panama City, FL, Amber Pavone Petitte of Tampa, FL, Lana (Phillip) Mathias of Lexington, SC, Mottie (Lisa) Pavone, Melanie Pavone and fiancé Darin Glitz, and Clete Pavone all of Morgantown, WV. He is survived by his companion Robin Cogar. He has eight grandchildren Cheyenne, Dean, and Kyle Petitte, Trey and Taylor Mathias, Dylan and Bailey Pavone Smith, and Marlowe Pavone. He is also survived by his sisters Barbara Snyder of Morgantown, WV and Betty (John) McDonald of Columbia, MD; his aunts Gloria Poropatt (Bob) Poling of Columbus, OH and Lena Pavone Bean of Sandusky, OH, and his niece Candi Rose Snyder and nephews John and Erik McDonald. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant sister Rose Marie Pavone. He will be sadly missed by his loving family and all who knew him especially his "brothers" and members of the "Three Musketeers" Carl Mascioli and George Sarris, and special lifelong friends Jim and Barbara King, John and Sue Labos, Mike Smith, Dr. David Fogarty, and Landy Lynch. The family wishes to thank the staff and wonderful physicians at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Allegheny General Hospital. Friends may be received at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Monday May 11, 2015 from 2-5pm followed by a service at 5pm with Father Andrew Switzer officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Ursula Food Pantry at P.O. Box 18, Pursglove, WV 26546 or Chestnut Ridge Ranch at 244 Ponderosa Ponds Rd. Morgantown, WV 26508.
