Mildred Sanders

August 19, 1936 — October 25, 2015

Mildred O. Sanders, 79, passed away October 25, 2015 in Morgantown, West Virginia. She was born August 19, 1936 to Charles and Nina (Harner) Province and was a life-long resident of the Morgantown area. She is survived by her children Faith (Don) Powers of Kennewick, WA, Jennifer Garrison of Fairmont, WV, Catherine Carroll of Houston, TX, Benjamin (Cindy) Wade of Kennewick, WA, and Daniel Wade, Sr. of Gastonia, NC, and twelve grandchildren: Holly Clayton, Amanda Wilson, Chad Powers, Brandon Wade, Shean Carroll, Johnathan Carroll, Courtney Carroll, Kendra Phillips, Michelle Gerard, Derrick Wade, Paige Wade, and Daniel Wade, Jr. She is also survived by 21 great-grandchildren. Also surviving her is a special stepson Donnie (Diane) Cress, of Morgantown. While she grew up in the Sabraton area, her longest periods of residence were in Brookhaven and later in the Maidsville and Fairmont areas. She also spent two years living in Washington State with her families there but later returned to her beloved West Virginia and her friends and family there. She was retired for many years at the time of her passing, but had previously worked in the X-Ray Department at the West Virginia University Hospital and later at the Morgantown Ramada Inn. She was an outgoing, social woman who had a knack for connecting with people. She had a genuine interest in their lives, families and interests. She also had an impeccable memory and could recall events with the date and location they happened with ease. For that reason, she was the family historian. She had an incredible talent for sewing and embroidery. Clothing for her children was often handmade. She loved to embroider and completed many pieces in the last few years of her life that will continue to be cherished by the family members and friends who were fortunate enough to receive those gifts of love. In addition to her parents, Mildred is preceded in death by brothers Charles Province, Jr. and Ronald Province; sisters Betty Tanner and Mary Vandervort,; a son, Mark Edward; the father of her children, Asa Wade; daughter-in-law Jeanne Harris Wade, and son-in-law John Carroll. Also awaiting her arrival in heaven is a very special companion, Frank Nuce. Honoring Mildred's wishes, cremation services were provided by Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held Friday, November 6th at the Sabraton Baptist Church beginning at 11am with Pastor Scott Whetzel officiating. Visitation will be from 10am until the time of service. Burial will follow at Nicholson Chapel Cemetery.
