Michael Thomas, Jr.

Michael Thomas, Jr., 80 of Morgantown passed away on Wednesday March 16, 2011 at Ruby Memorial Hospital after his long battle with cancer. He was born in Morgantown on April 14, 1930. Michael attended St. Francis Grade School and graduated from Morgantown High School in 1953. He attended West Virginia University where he studied Accounting. He was married to Margarita Kaupaite on September 4, 1971 in Lithuania. Among various other positions held, Michael worked for A & P in Morgantown and Kingwood for nearly 30 years. He enjoyed spending time outside and with family and home improvement projects. He was a devout Catholic and attended Mass regularly. He was preceded in death by his father Michael Thomas, Sr., who passed away in Nov. 1973 and his mother Cecelia Masiokaite who passed away in Sept. 2005. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Margarita; daughters Elly Thomas of Martinsburg, WV and Daina Thomas of Frederick, MD; five year old grandson, Austin; brother Andrew Thomas of Charlotte, NC his wife Shirley, three nephews; one niece and their families. Friends may call at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home Thursday March 17, 2011 from 5-7pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10am Friday at the St. John University Parish with Rev. Father Fred Byrne as celebrant. Entombment will follow at the St. Mary Peace Garden Mausoleum.
