Michael Scott Hendershot Sr.

Michael Scott Mike' Hendershot, Sr., 45, of Morgantown passed away on Friday, October 11, 2013 at the Ruby Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born May 20, 1968 in Martinsburg, WV son of the late Robert M. and Barbara Criss Hendershot. Michael was a roofing contractor for many years and also worked for the WV Department of Highways. He attended the Sabraton Baptist Church. Mike enjoyed camping with family and friends every summer and especially enjoyed trips to Myrtle Beach. Mike loved his family, his friends and his God. He read his Bible every day. Mike also had a good sense of humor and wouldn't pass up the opportunity to tease and pick on his children. He was also a huge Pittsburgh Steeler fan. He is survived by his wife Jana Hendershot; daughter Amanda Hendershot; son Michael Scott Hendershot, Jr.; grandson Darreon Wilson all of Martinsburg; step children, Winter Dawn Underwood of Huntington, Eugene Joseph Toothman of Shinnston, WV and David Glenn Gooden of Morgantown; one brother Brian Hendershot of Grafton; niece and nephew, Glory Hendershot and James Hendershot of Grafton and nephew Matt Hendershot of Martinsburg. Also surviving is his faithful canine companion Jasmine. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Robert Hendershot, Jr. Friends may call at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home Sunday October 13, 2013 from 6pm to 8pm and Monday at the Sabraton Baptist Church from 10am until time of services at 11am with Pastor Scott Whetzel officiating.
