Max Eugene Mason

Max Eugene Mason, 72, of Westover, formerly of Martinsburg, WV, went to be with the Lord Wednesday October 24, 2012. He was at home surrounded by his family. Born January 22, 1940 in Berkeley County, WV, he was the son of the late Harry R. Mason and Leona C. Hess Mason. He served in the Army National Guard from 1958-1964. He retired from the Veneer business. He is survived by his best friend and loving wife Esther J. Mason; three sons, Anthony Mason and Paul Swope both of Morgantown and David Ash of West Union, WV; two daughters Crystal Matteo and husband Bob Matteo, Tracy Ash and spouse Todd Moore; grandchildren, Brad, Matthew, Brandy, Kayla, Andrew, Aaron, and Ryan; one great grandchild Kylie Ann; two brothers and spouses Russell and Ronna Mason, Norman and Peggy Mason; one sister Carolyn Mason all of Martinsburg. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his three brothers, Harry Mason, Jr., William Mason and Calvin Mason; one infant son Max Eugene Mason, Jr., and one grandson Dwayne Ash. Friends may call at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Friday October 26 from 2-4 and 7-9pm and again on Saturday from noon until time of services at 1pm with Rev. Ralph Stoker officiating. Burial will follow at the Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens with military graveside rites conducted by WVANG Camp Dawson and Morgantown VFW Post 548. The family would like to extend their appreciation and thanks to Amedysis Hospice and his nurses, Traci, Ron, Mary and social worker Jeannie for their wonderful care given to the Mason family.
