Maurice Alan Harris

Maurice Alan Harris, 44, of Cincinnati, OH, formerly of Morgantown, passed away on August 16, 2019. He was born July 31, 1975, a son of Mitch Harris Sr. and Valerie Harris.

In addition to his parents and his grandmother Willa Boyd, he is survived by two brothers Mitch Harris, Jr. of Cincinnati, OH and his twin brother Marcus Harris of Morgantown; two loving children, son Kyler Harris of Cincinnati, OH and daughter Chalyon Harris of Morgantown; along with special friends Norman Lofton, L.C. Lucas and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Maurice graduated from University High School and proudly served seven years in the U.S. Navy.

Upon his return to civilian life, Maurice attended the Mon County Technical Education Center and received a certificate in Computer Systems and Operational Support.

Maurice also received a Certificate of Achievement from the Robert C. Byrd Institute’s Machinist Technology Program. He then graduated from Mountwest Community and Technical College with a certificate in Technical Studies followed by an Associate of Applied Science with Honors Degree in CNC Technology.

Professionally, Maurice was employed with Swanson Industries of Morgantown for 12 years as a machinist. He then moved to Cincinnati, OH where he was employed with Hi-Tek Manufacturing, Inc. as a CNC Machinist.

Maurice did volunteer work for numerous organizations and events. He was a very kind and thoughtful person who never met a stranger. He will be deeply missed by his children, family, and friends.

The family will receive friends at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home Thursday, August 22, 2019, from 6pm-8pm and again on Friday from 10 am until the time of the Homegoing service at 11 am with Pastor Gwen McKinley and Rev. Jeremy Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery with full military honors.
