Mary Lou Skipper, 57 of the Kingwood Pike Morgantown passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2019, at UPMC Montefiore, Hospital in Pittsburgh, following a long illness. She was born in Morgantown on June 6, 1961, to the late Pete and Bonnie Mae Blosser.
Mary Lou owned and operated Skipper’s Personal Care Home for nearly 40 years. She also worked for WVU Hospital as a Housekeeping Assistant. Mary Lou was a life-long member of the Cool Springs VFD and was Monongalia County’s first female 1st Responder.
Mary Lou loved shopping. She would be up at the crack of dawn, ready to go yard saling. Black Fridays were always an adventure. She also was quite the cook, ready to feed an army. She enjoyed baking and canning.
More than anything she cherished her grandchildren and spending time with her family.
She was Pentecostal by faith and was a trustee of God’s Family Bible Church.
Mary Lou is survived by her husband of 37 years, Bobby ‘Skip’ Skipper, Jr.; one daughter, Amanda Baker and her husband KJ; son Bo Skipper and wife Amy; step-daughter, Jessica McElroy and husband Ben of Washington State; two sisters, Barbie Grimes and husband Jerry and Charlotte Grimes and husband Dayton; four grandchildren, Colton Baker, Bonnie ‘Abby’ Baker, Braxton Skipper and Piper Skipper; special nephew, who would have been her living donor, D.J. Summers; special friend Carol ‘Pee Pee’ Hart; special aunt, Naomi Davis; sisters-in-law Carlotta Cawthorn and Billy Hoeing of Chesapeake, VA; Anita and David Foster of Salem, WV and brother-in-law David and Lennetta Skipper of Beaver, WV. Also, surviving is her mother-in-law, Marylin Skipper of Norfolk, VA, and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a special aunt and best friend Rosella Kay Cox; brother and sister in law, Billy and Doreen Skipper and her father-in-law Robert Skipper, Sr.
Family will receive friends at the Fred Jenkins Funeral Home on Sunday, May 5, 2019, from 6 to 8 pm and again on Monday from 11 am until time of services at 12 noon with Pastor Donna Dalton officiating. Honoring her wishes cremation will follow.
