Mary Catherine McDonald Collins, 76, of Maidsville, W.Va., passed away peacefully Saturday, March 22, 2014, at her home surrounded by her family and a close friend. She was born in Grafton, W.Va., on July 20, 1937, a daughter of the late Claudine (Kennedy) and Clarence Dewey McDonald. In 1953, she married the love of her life, the late Jack Arnold Collins. They were married for a very happy 54 years. Mary was devoted to her loved ones. She enjoyed planning family get-togethers and spending time with her friends. She was known as a culinary artist with a knack for gardening. During her younger days, she loved working at Mylan Pharmaceuticals where she was one of the first employees of the company. She also enjoyed spending time with her wonderful pet and best friend, Joy. She had a big personality and a big heart. She always made an impact on the lives of those she encountered. She had an incredible sense of humor that kept her family and friends laughing all of the time through thick and thin. Mary used to talk and laugh with one friend whom she worked with at Mylan, Cynthia Laya, almost every day. She will be sadly missed by her family as well as her many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mary is survived by her son, Roger Collins, his four children [Michelle; Kelly; Roger (and Amber, Evan and Dean); Michael (and Holly)], and his significant other, Lisa, and her children, Megan and Tyler. She is also survived by one great-granddaughter, Violet; two brothers, Earl and Ronald; and four sisters, Magalene (and Marion) Hilson, Druzella McDonald, Lenora Jean McDonald, Louise Peterangelo and Lenora (and John) Davenport. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Vincent (and Marcilla) McDonald, Leo McDonald, Ralph McDonald and Harlan McDonald. Friends will be received at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home, 10 South High Street, Morgantown, W.Va., from 6 to 8pm on Wednesday, and again on Thursday from 1pm until time of services at 2pm with Minister Patty Thomas officiating. Mary will be laid to rest at the Bethel Church Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.
