Mary J. Hiner

Mary J. Hiner, 94 of Dellslow, WV departed this life on December 5, 2013. Mary was born in Wendel, WV on Dec. 20, 1918, daughter of the late George and Mary (Drazenovich) Rubick of Pursglove. Mrs. Hiner was preceded in death by her husband, Hobert Hiner in 1957. Mary was also preceded in death by her son, Charles "Chuck" Hiner Oct. 4, 2004, and her sisters, "Billie" Rubick, Rose Maxwell, Kay Ecker , Julie Comstock and one brother George Rubick. Mary is survived by one grandson, Andrew Todd "Andy" Hiner and wife April of Buffalo Lake, one brother Edward Rubick and wife Frances of Harrisburg, Pa and one sister Olga Alagna and husband Frank of Ocean City , Maryland and several nieces. Also surviving are Sharon Hiner-Franklin and husband Mike of Weston, WV and special friend, Flo Leightly and family. Mary graduated from University High School in 1937. She owned and operated the Sunset Inn in Dellslow for 40 years. She and her husband built the business. May was Catholic by faith. Special thanks to her wonderful caregivers - Brandy Buchanan, Debbie Ridgeway, Jean Burner, Nancy Strang, Wanda Shafer and Amanda Taft. Family and friends will be received at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Friday, Dec. 6, 2013 from 2pm until time of services at 6 pm with Sister Nancy White officiating. Honoring her wishes, Mary will be cremated. Interment of her ashes will take place at the East Oak Grove Cemetery at a later date.
