Mary Ann Higginbotham of Core, WV, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, with both of her daughters lovingly by her side. Born October 20, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Willard and Juanita Ross Kemp.

In addition to her daughters, Cloressa Matheny Beatty and Verronica Nightingale, and husband, Thatcher, she is survived by her grandchildren, Vaneesha Kitchens, Valeesha Higginbotham, John Matheny, Charlie Matheny, Joshua Matheny and spouse Sarah, Micayla Willis, Kassandra Nicole Willis Lewis and spouse Brandon, CyAnn Willis, Bradley Cottrell and 10 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Also surviving are sister Betty Stuchell; brothers Junior Ross and spouse Dana, Charlie Ross, and William Ross and spouse Cathy.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Benny Higginbotham, Sr., three sons, Benny Higginbotham, Jr., Brett Higginbotham, and Matthew Higginbotham, and one grandson, Jason. 

Family and friends will gather at the Fred Jenkins Funeral Home, 10 S. High St., Morgantown, WV 26501, on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2026, from 4 - 8 PM, and Friday from 10 AM until the time of service at 11 AM, with Rev. Jason Cain officiating. She will rest with her husband, Rev. Benny, at Olive Cemetery in Pentress, WV.
