Marvin G. Tennant

Marvin Tennant, 62, passed away Monday March 4, 2013 at his home with his family by his side. He was born July 31, 1950 in Cassville to the late Ellis James and Eva Ellen Varner Tennant. He worked at Davis &Lynch glass factory before becoming a coal miner where he retired from Robinson Run Mine in 1996. He then worked for Benson's Lawn Systems until 2011 as a landscaper. Marvin loved to bowl, golf, fish, and spend time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 41 years Barbara McGilton Tennant of Cassville; his daughters Teresa Tennant Wolfe of Cassville and Lisa Uphold and husband Packy of Greensboro, PA. He is also survived by five grandchildren Lucy and Alexis Grimm of Cassville, Robert Friend, Tyler Uphold, and Gavin Uphold all of Greensboro, PA; five sisters Mabel Smith and husband Willie of Cassville, Jean Demastes and husband Don of Core, Carole Tennant of Minnesota, Mary Gaskill of Ohio and Faye Stimmell of Ohio; and two brothers Arlie Tennant and wife Eleanor of South Carolina and Melvin Tennant of Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by three sisters Bertha, Lillian, and Nancy; three brothers Bill, Charles, and his twin brother Frankie; and one grandson Justin Michael Ray Friend. To honor Marvin's request there will be no viewing or funeral services. Cremation was arranged by Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held by the family at a later date.
