Marvin Lee Shaffer

Marvin Lee Shaffer, 78, of Morgantown, passed away Friday December 20, 2019 at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born July 8, 1941 in Buckhannon, WV a son of the late Arthur and Hattie Perry Shaffer. Marvin was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was stationed in Italy as a medic during his service. After his honorable discharge from the service, Marvin worked at Morgantown Glass Factory, and later went to work for CONSOL as a coal miner before his retirement. Marvin was also a member of the UMWA. In his spare time, he enjoyed daily morning visits to Hardees. Marvin was an avid WVU Mountaineer and Morgantown High School sports fan. However, his greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was known as a kind, generous, and fun loving man. Marvin is survived by two daughters Sandra Cripple and husband Jay of Mandeville, LA, Shani Utter and husband Ernie of Grafton, WV; and four grandchildren Samantha Utter, Megan Cripple, Alison Utter, and Sean Cripple. Friends will be received at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Monday December 23, 2019 from 5pm until the time of funeral service at 7pm with Rev. Neil Leftwich officiating.
