Marvin Lynn Drvar, 69, of Morgantown, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2020, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 9, 1950 in Morgantown, a son of the late Nick Bill Drvar and Janie Radetich Drvar.

He was a 1968 graduate of Morgantown High School. Marvin attended Fairmont State University and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education. He continued his education at West Virginia University earning a Masters of Arts in Social Studies. Marvin then worked for the Monongalia County Courthouse as a Deputy Clerk, scanning deeds and records onto microfilm. Retiring after 33 years as a Deputy Clerk, he went onto become an abstractor, which involved his love of researching deeds and records. Marvin started as an abstractor with S & A Property Research and later worked for Mike Ross and Ed Broome.

Marvin attended New Hill Church. He was a member of Brookhaven Lions Club from 1980-1999. He was also a member of the Cheat Lake Lions Club from 1999-present and was awarded the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award. Marvin also was the Cabinet Secretary under Tracy Smith with the State Lions Club District L. In his younger years, Marvin enjoyed all sports including soccer, basketball, baseball and football. Marvin also enjoyed fishing, watching pro wrestling, and playing softball for Honest Abe’s Used Cars, and had a love of trains that he inherited from his father. Most of all Marvin enjoyed spending time with his immediate family, especially his grandchildren.

Marvin had many accomplishments in his life but will be mostly remembered for his strong character, integrity, and impeccable honesty.

He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 43 years Margaret Adams Drvar of Morgantown; sons Jacob Elias Drvar and wife Kimberly Savage Drvar of Twentynine Palms, CA, Jared Nathaniel Drvar and wife Lindsey Felton Drvar of Morgantown; two grandchildren Arabella Noelle Drvar, Luke David Drvar; and brother Gary Lee Drvar of Everettsville, WV.

Friends and family will be received at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Friday February 28, 2020 from 5-8pm and again on Saturday from 10am until the time of the funeral service at 11am with Pastor Stephen Dodrill officiating. Marvin will be laid to rest at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
