Mark Anthony Cottingham, a beloved father, dedicated brother, and talented painter, passed away on October 11, 2025, at the age of 63. Born on March 11, 1962, Mark was a resident of Granville, West Virginia, where he shared laughter, love, and unforgettable memories with his family and friends.
Mark was known for his infectious spirit and his love for Barry Manilow's music. He was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan, and his enthusiasm for sports often brought lively debates to the family gatherings. Anyone who knew Mark has likely heard his trademark saying, "Manboy," followed by his unique insights, which never failed to amuse those around him.
Professionally, Mark worked as a painter for various companies, including his father's business, L&M Painting, in Plainfield NJ, as well as for Mr. Ken Joy in New Jersey. His passion for painting not only showcased his skill but also demonstrated his attention to detail and dedication to his craft.
A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, Mark served with the 82nd Airborne, earning his parachutist badge along with several commendations during his service. He was honorably discharged in December 1985, and his military service was a significant source of pride for him.
Mark leaves behind his cherished daughter, Johnea Cottingham, who he adored, along with his loving siblings, Marnita Cottingham, Kimberly Cottingham, and Louis Cottingham. He was a doting grandfather to Adryan and Ajah Cottingham and a treasured uncle to his nieces and nephews, Dominique Cottingham, Anthony Flagg II, Shayna, and Keyna Malendez.
Mark's family will honor his request for a simple cremation with a private memorial to be held in the spring.
Rest in peace, Mark-your laughter and love will be sorely missed.
