Marjorie Ann Wald

Marjorie Ann Wald of Morgantown passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday October 5th, 2019. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Dr. Donald Marvin Wald. A native of Clifton, Kansas, Marjorie graduated with a degree in Music Education from Washburn University (Topeka, KS) where she was President of her social sorority, Alpha Phi. She taught music at the junior high level until her marriage. She and Dr. Wald relocated to Morgantown in 1982 when he joined the University of West Virginia School of Medicine. She was known as a very special and caring neighbor. Marjorie loved music, nature and animals, and enjoyed the company of several beloved dogs over the years. An avid sports fan, she particularly enjoyed watching WVU and the Pittsburgh Pirates. She is survived by a nephew, John Corkhill Jr. (Topeka, KS), and nieces Debra A. Corkhill (Tallahassee, FL), Karen Haynes (Wichita, KS), Nancy Haynes Meek (Clay Center, KS) and Jamie L. Corkhill (Topeka, KS). Honoring Marjorie’s wishes, cremation services will be provided by the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home. There will be no public services, although a private memorial will be held at a later date.
