Marcel Anthony Robinson, 40, passed away on July 5, 2016 after fighting a courageous battle against Sickle Cell Anemia, cancer, and kidney disease.
Marcel is survived by his parents Maurice and Roselle Robinson; his wife, Tiffany Robinson, who was his soulmate and best friend; son Gavinn Rodamer; siblings, Martine Robinson and Marlan Robinson; aunts Zeola Alston (Godmother), Marva Evans, and Ramona McMillon; uncle Glenn Alston; nephews Bryson and Braydon Jatta, whom he affectionately adored; Tony McDonald (Godfather); and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
Marcel was born on July 3, 1976 in Chicago, Illinois to Joseph and Roselle Robinson. He graduated high school from University High School in 1994 and West Virginia University with a Bachelor degree in Communication Studies and Master of Arts degree in Higher Education Leadership
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Allen and Mattie Belle Alston and paternal grandparents, Joseph and Lillian Robinson. In addition to uncles Allen Alston Jr., and Ronald Alston.
Marcel was employed by Purple Land Management. He attended Chestnut Ridge Church and was a longtime member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church since childhood.
Marcel was a generous individual who had an infectious smile whom everyone liked; He never met a stranger. No matter what he was going through personally, he always made it a point to inquire about what was going on with you instead. He loved sports and was an avid Mountaineer, LeBron James and Dallas Cowboy fan, since the tender age of six years old. Marcel will be missed tremendously by all his family and friends. He fought hard against his diseases and always kept a positive outlook and smile on his face. Marcel loved to travel and was called "the best man" by many due to his frequent representation in his friend's weddings.
Friends are invited to gather in support of the family at Suncrest United Methodist Church on Friday, July 8 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, July 9, 2016, at Suncrest United Methodist Church at 11 am with Pastor Junius Lewis officiating. Repass will immediately follow services at Suncrest United Methodist Church.
