Luther "Butch" Earl Lynch, 74, of Morgantown, West Virginia, passed away on July 10, 2026.
Butch is survived by his loving wife, Sharon M. Lynch; his son, Timothy E. Lynch and daughter-in-law, Cheryl A. Lynch; his daughter, Krista M. Forman and son-in-law, Timothy L. Forman; his grandchildren, Brett A. Auman, Elizabeth A. Lynch, Joseph M. Lynch, Kyleigh M. Forman, and Bailey A. Forman; his mother, Christine Lynch; his sisters, Brenda Lynch, Vicki Lynch and Ruthanne Lynch; and his brother, Landis "Landy" Lynch.
Butch was preceded in death by his father, Landis "Landy" Lynch; his sisters, Donna Lynch and Debra "Tammy" Lynch; his brother, Daniel "Danny" Lynch; and his favorite cousin, Harley Winter.
Butch was especially excited to become a great-grandfather in January, a blessing he looked forward to with great joy.
Butch proudly served in the United States Army from 1970 through 1973 where he transported soldiers coming home from Vietnam. He spent most of his life as a member of Teamsters Local 175 and, at times during his career, served as the local shop steward. He owned and operated the former Family Café Family Restaurant on Don Knotts Boulevard. Butch worked with CMI as a teamster for years and helped with the building of the Star City Bridge. He worked on the turnpike that runs from Smithtown, PA to West Virginia. For a few years, he worked in Bladensburg, MD refurbishing the railroad.
Butch loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, fisherman, side-by-side rider, and gardener. He especially enjoyed hunting and riding side-by-sides with his grandkids, family, and closest friends. You could often find him reading in his garage. Most importantly, he loved his friends and family, and bringing everyone together for cookouts, he would roast whole hogs on a spit.
In his last few weeks, Butch was taken care of by the wonderful staff at Amedisys Hospice.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, from 10am until the funeral service at 12pm with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating. Following the funeral, Butch will be laid to rest at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens with full military honors.
