Lorraine W. Humphreys

Lorraine W. Humphreys, 83 of Morgantown was rescued from the bonds of this life into the arms of her loving savior Jesus Christ, Thursday June 23, 2011 after a brief illness. She was born August 7, 1927 at Chaplin Hill, Morgantown, the daughter of the late Aldo and Lena Panrell White. She was a long time member of Delmar Church, pastored by her son Max Humphreys, faithfully attending with her husband until his death. She then attended and was a member of Chaplin Church, pastored by her son-in-law Edward Rowan until the time of her death. She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother; a kind faithful friend to all who knew her; strong and independent, overcoming many hardships physically but never complaining. She is survived by her son and spouse Max and Kitty Humphreys of Westover; two daughters and spouses Rebecca and Edward Rowan of Morgantown and Cindy and Tony Chapman of Hurricane, WV; one granddaughter Stacy Humphreys of St. Louis, Missouri; two brothers Clarence and Richard White, both of Morgantown and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are special friends and caregivers Melissa Bodkins and Sue Merrill. Special thanks to Betty Jo Weber, Wilma and the staff at Weber's Personal Care Home for their compassion and tender loving care to Lorraine. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Max L. Humphreys; two brothers, John and Ressie White; one sister Louise Fox and foster brother Robert Cordwell. Friends may call at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home Sunday June 26, 2011 from 5-7pm. Funeral services will be held 1:30 pm Monday June 27 at the Fred L. Jenkins Chapel of Prayer with Pastor Fred Tomlinson officiating. Burial will follow at the East Oak Grove Cemetery.
