Lori Jo Mcdilda

Lori Jo McDilda, 57, entered eternal rest on Sunday, April 14, 2019 after fighting courageously for more than four years against cancer. Lori passed peacefully at her home in Pursglove surrounded by her family.

She was born July 23, 1961 in Baltimore, MD daughter to Betty Jo Brode Tenney of Masontown, WV and the late George R. Brode. Lori graduated high school and then attended Glenville State College and Fairmont State University to receive her undergraduate. She would later go on to WVU to receive her master’s degree in Software Engineering in 2000, all while working full time and caring for her family.

She worked at the Department of Energy-Morgantown, NETL site as an IT Specialist for over 30 years. She was instrumental in establishing a day-care program at the DOE.

She had so many talents and gifts to share but time spent with family, friends and her dogs, Abbie, Mortie and Lucie were such an important part of her life. She also enjoyed crocheting, collecting antique butter churns, scrapbooking and sewing. Her infectious personality and easy-going spirit will be sadly missed by those who knew her best. She will forever leave a legacy of love, friendship and kindness.

She is survived by her husband, the love of her life and best friend of 37 years, David McDilda, Sr.; mother, Betty Jo Brode Tenny and husband Frank of Masontown, WV; daughter Melissa Jo McDilda and husband Tyler Bachman of Pursglove; son David McDilda, Jr. and fiancée Stacey Hoover; one brother Brad Brode, all of Masontown, WV; and sister-in-law Donna Stewart and husband Bob of Martinsburg, WV.

She was preceded in death by her father George R. Brode.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 18, 2019 from 4pm until 8pm at the Fred Jenkins Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held on Friday April 19 at the Fred L. Jenkins Chapel of Prayer at 11am with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
