Lonnie 'Butch' Hartman, Jr.

September 13, 1952 — January 20, 2022

Lonnie L. ‘Butch’ Hartman, Jr., 69, of Morgantown passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at the Mon Health Medical Center. He was born September 13, 1952, in Morgantown, son to Lonnie Hartman, Sr., and Wanda Hunt Hartman. Lonnie began high school in Morgantown and the family relocated to, NY where Lonnie graduated from East Rochester High. Shortly after, he was drafted and took a post working Army Intelligence in Okinawa, Japan. Following his honorable discharge, he would return to Morgantown and work for Doug Ayersman, who became one of his best friends. In 1980, he decided to start his own construction business, Hartman & Son’s Construction. Lonnie’s fingerprints can be found all over Morgantown and surrounding areas. He would finally, ‘retire’ in 2017. For more than 40 years, each day would start the same for Lonnie, a Kit-Kat and Diet Pepsi. Lonnie was a member of the HOPE Church and held several leadership positions including Youth Leader and assisted as an usher. He was also always lending his talents with any renovations or special projects that required the touch of a master carpenter. It is no surprise that Lonnie loved Christmas. Every year Butch loved to participate in Shop with a Cop, planned bus trips to Oglebay to see the lights, and would even deliver pizza during the holidays to local businesses. Lonnie was the definition of ‘family man’ and brought laughter to every room. Always by his side, you would find his dog, Jack. If Lonnie wasn't spending time with his family, helping others, or on the job, you would find him fishing. He truly enjoyed life. Lonnie is survived by his wife, Veronica, his sons, and their wives, Patrick (Nicole), Clint (Amanda), Cliff (Katie); grandchildren, Breckin, Tori, Landon, Aria; his siblings, Shirley, Gloria, Brenda, William ‘Fred’ & wife Misty and his best dog Jack. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie Hartman Sr. & Wanda Hunt Hartman, and his brothers-in-law, Dennis Stout & Danny Wagner Visitation will be held at the HOPE Church, 519 Hornbeck Rd., Morgantown 26501 on Wednesday, January 26, from 2-4 & 6-8 PM and again on Thursday from 11 AM until the service at 1 PM with Pastors, John Wagner, Allen, and Joseph Donham officiating. Cremation will follow with a private inurnment. This devastating time has brought unexpected financial obligations to the family. The family is asking for donations to assist the cost of services, medical bills, and other expenses for their home.  Donations can be made by clicking on the Memorial Contribution below.
