Leonard Coleman Wolfe, a cherished and jovial soul whose passion and friendliness touched the lives of many, passed away peacefully at the age of 87 on August 8, 2024, at Morgantown Health Center. Born on November 1, 1936, in Clarksburg, WV, to the late Andrew and Anna Kuhar Wolfe, Leonard's life was one of dedication, laughter, and love.
Leonard grew up in the welcoming community of Clarksburg and later moved to Morgantown, where he would spend the majority of his life. A proud graduate of University High School, he carried his Mountaineer spirit further by attending West Virginia University. His early professional years were spent providing service with a smile at the local A&P Grocery Store. His career took a meaningful turn when he joined Valley Health Care Systems as an Intervention Specialist, a role he devotedly fulfilled for over three decades until his retirement.
Leonard's commitment to service extended beyond his professional career. He honorably served his country as a member of the US Army and Army Reserves, embodying the values of loyalty and duty. His patriotism and dedication to his country were sources of great pride for him and his family.
The light of Leonard's life was his beloved wife, Karen Malone Wolfe, with whom he shared 58 years of marriage before she preceded him in death. Together, they were a dynamic duo in the world of pageantry, with Leonard playing the role of a gracious and entertaining host at Crown International Talent & KMW Modeling Agency's scholarship pageants. His natural humor and warmth made every event memorable, and his efforts helped hundreds of young women pursue their educational dreams.
He leaves behind his treasured stepdaughter, Patrice Bullister of Morgantown, who will miss his guidance and laughter. His sister, Jeanie Claassen of Cumming, GA, will fondly remember their shared moments and the wisdom he imparted. Leonard's legacy also lives on through his numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, all of whom he adored and who will carry forward his zest for life, and we couldn't forget his feline companion Babe who will miss his presence.
Predeceased by his parents and his sisters, Shirley Watts and Karen Tibbs, Leonard's memory will be a beacon of joy and camaraderie for all who knew him. His funny anecdotes, friendly demeanor, and passionate approach to life made him a beloved figure in his community and beyond.
Leonard's presence will be profoundly missed, but the impact of his life will continue to resonate. He taught us the value of a good laugh, the importance of strong relationships, and the power of helping others fulfill their potential. As we bid farewell to Leonard Coleman Wolfe, we celebrate a life well-lived and a man well-loved. His spirit will forever be a part of the stories we share and the lives he has touched.
