Leonard Leroy Poland

Leonard LeRoy Poland, 60, of Morgantown, WV went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at Golden Living Center, Morgantown. He was born January 26, 1950 in Morgantown, WV, the son of the late Leonard LeRoy Poland and Martha Jane Lee Poland of Morgantown, WV. He was a 1968 graduate of Morgantown High School and a 1972 graduate of West Virginia University with a degree in civil engineering. He was an Army Reservist and worked for General Electric and Westinghouse as an engineer. Lee played the trumpet in the WVU Marching Band, and loved the Lord. He is survived by his brother, Harold LeRoy of Morgantown and wife Jeanne, two sisters, Lyda Melinda and husband Bill Barnhart of Manassas, VA and Martha Anne Lee of Fairfax, VA, and a son, Timothy Poland. He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews and their families: Melinda (Poland) Kayira and son Reese of Buckhannon, WV, Carl Poland, wife Michelle, and daughter Savannah Grace of Morgantown, Jane Leckert, husband Jimmy, and children Maddie and Nicholas of Bristol, VA, Bill Barnhart, wife Janine, and daughter Alana of Denver, CO, and Chris Carr of Pittsburgh, PA. A memorial service to celebrate Lee's life will be held Saturday, November 20th, 2010 at 1PM at the Fred L Jenkins Funeral Home with military rites conducted by the Westover VFW Post 9916. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the staff at the Golden Living Center of Morgantown for the excellent care, love, and compassion shown to him during these last years of his life and for the many words of kindness that have been received. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his honor to the Resident Fund at the Golden Living Center of Morgantown, 1379 Van Voorhis Rd, Morgantown, WV, 26505.
