Leola Mckinney

Surrounded by her loving family, Leola Laura McKinney, 98, of Morgantown peacefully went to be with the Lord on June 18, 2015, at the Sundale Nursing Home where she had been residing for the past several years. Leola was born in Morgantown on November 8, 1916, daughter of the late Walter and Laura Mitchell. Leola was the wife of the late Walter E McKinney. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Alta Nell Langdon and has one sister Betty Cook living in Pasadena, CA. She was a graduate of Morgantown High School; also an employee of Layman Motor Company where she was a bookkeeper for many years. Leola was a faithful Christian and a longtime member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. She loved doing crafts especially knitting, crocheting and embroidering as well as baking butterscotch pies and spending time with her family. She is survived by her two children, Harold McKinney and his wife Vicki of The Villages, Florida and Amy Walls and her husband Michael from Bruceton Mills, WV. She is also survived by five grandchildren; Walter and Laura McKinney, Kevin and Catherine McKinney all of Morgantown; Corey and Paula McKinney of Woodbridge, VA; Laura and Josh Eddy of Centreville, VA; and Christopher and Holly Walls of Bruceton Mills, WV. She also has eight great grandchildren. Friends and relatives will be received at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Monday, June 22 from 5 to 8pm and on June 23 at the Christian Missionary Alliance Church at 10am, with funeral service to follow at 11am. Burial will follow at the Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church at 308 Elmhurst Street, Morgantown, WV 26505.
