Lawrence G. Johnson

Lawrence G. Johnson, 79, of Morgantown passed away on Friday, February 17, 2023 surrounded by his family. He was born February 16, 1944 in Preston County a son of the late Otis Johnson and Hester Goodwin.

Lawrence worked and retired from West Virginia University. In his free time he enjoyed finding a good deal at flea markets, fishing, and softball. He also was a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

He is survived by his daughters Paula Salamone and husband Joseph, Regina Ralston and husband Marc, Tina Johnson; sister Joann Mathess; grandchildren Joseph Salamone, Cody Salamone, Greta Goodman, Dewayne Martin, Anna Martin, Melissa Miller, Tommy Martin, Bobby Martin, Katie Martin, Jake Martin, Matthew Johnson, Jonathan Johnson, Danielle Bevins, and Carly Larsok; many great grandchildren, and his faithful dog Piper.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Joann Johnson; daughters Heddie Johnson, Bonnie Johnson, step-father Jimmy Goodwin, Sr., brother Jimmy Goodwin, Jr.; sisters Mary Hiser, Susie Bosley, and Debbie Johnson.

Family and friends are invited to gather at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Monday, February 20, 2023 from 11am until the time of the funeral service at 1pm with Pastor Jason Sheffstall officiating. Lawrence will be laid to rest at Nicholson Chapel Cemetery.

The family will have a picnic in Lawrence’s memory later this year.
