Those who knew Kim will remember a hardworking, capable, and creative man whose talents were matched by his devotion to family.

Kim Roger LaBarge, born on January 9, 1961, in Albany, New York, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes at his home on August 6, 2026. His sudden passing has brought great sadness to all who knew and loved him.

Kim is survived by his devoted spouse, Tammy LaBarge, who stood steadfastly beside him throughout their years together, and his beloved son, Ian LaBarge of home, who will forever cherish his memory and the lasting impact of his guidance and love. He is also survived by his loving sister, Candice A. LaBarge Downs of Northville, NY; his brother, Karl E. LaBarge of Unadilla, NY; and his sister, Freda C. Hernandez of Schenectady, NY. His extended family includes numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews; his sisters-in-law, Sherri Lowther (Jeremy Culpepper) and Melody E. Grugin, and his brother-in-law, John M. (Melody) George II. Kim is also survived by his faithful canine companion, Finn, who was rarely far from his side and brought him great companionship and joy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo R. LaBarge and Marion L. Bushman Villano; his brothers, Thomas E. Villano, Patrick Dugan, and Timothy W. Dugan; his sister, Barbara Jean Simpson; and his sister-in-law, Terri S. Rice.

Before making his home in West Virginia, Kim lived and worked in New York, where he was involved in the development of emerging fiber-optic technology. His innovative work in the field resulted in several patents related to fiber-optic technology, accomplishments that reflected both his intelligence and his natural ability to understand how things worked.

After settling in the Morgantown area, Kim put those same skills and resourcefulness to work in property maintenance, caring for several properties throughout the community. Most recently, he worked with the Black Bear community. Kim was the kind of person who could fix, build, or figure out just about anything. His abilities extended beyond his work, as he enjoyed woodworking, crafting projects, and working with his hands. He was also known as a great neighbor, always willing to lend his skills when something needed done.

Away from work, Kim was happiest outdoors. He had a deep appreciation for nature and especially enjoyed fishing the lakes, rivers, and streams of West Virginia. Whether working on a project, helping a neighbor, or spending a quiet day near the water, Kim appreciated the satisfaction found in simple things and time well spent.

Those who knew Kim will remember a hardworking, capable, and creative man whose talents were matched by his devotion to family and his willingness to help others. His unexpected passing leaves a tremendous void, but the many things he built, repaired, created, and shared—and the relationships he formed along the way remain a lasting reflection of a life well lived.

Family and friends will be received at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home, 10 S. High St., Morgantown, WV 26501, on Monday, August 10, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, from noon until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.

As family and friends gather to remember Kim, they will celebrate a man of many talents, a loving husband and father, a good neighbor, and someone who found great joy in creating, helping others, and enjoying the beauty of the outdoors.
