Kevin Michael Perine

December 31, 1960 — October 4, 2012

Kevin Michael Perine, 51, of Morgantown, left this world to join God on October 4, 2012 while at his home surrounded by his wife and family. Kevin had a brief, but courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Morgantown on new years' eve, December 31, 1960, the second son of Junior Perine and the late Addie Oneta Perine. Kevin graduated from Morgantown High School and the Monongalia County Technical Education Center in 1979. He was employed with Morgantown Internal Medicine for 15 years. He loved his fellow employees and took great pride in his work. Kevin is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Laura Shaffer Perine, his father, Junior Perine, brothers, Perry Perine and wife, Bonnie of Bruceton Mills, Nathan Perine and wife, Debbie of Morgantown and sister, Lezlie Lough and husband, Lewis of Morgantown. Kevin is survived by brothers-in-law, Eldrid Paul Shaffer, Jr. and wife, Wendy from Blacksville and Edward James Shaffer Sr. and wife, Mary from Indiana. Also surviving are nephews and nieces, Perry Perine, Jr. and wife, Jessica, Jonathan Perine and wife, Leah, Brandon Lough, Ariel Perine, Melissa Strahin and husband, Gregory, Kelly Shaffer, Kristina Feely-Mack and husband, Justin, Ashley Zeigler and husband, Travis, Tiffany Johnson, Ashley Haverfield, Landon Ross Shaffer, John Kenneth Shaffer, Jr., Edward Shaffer, Jr. and companion, Mindy Price and Anthony Michael Shaffer and Kevin's very special niece, Samantha Snyder who he treated as a daughter and her father, John Wilbur Snyder and fiancé, Marci Fox of Masontown. Also surviving is a childhood friend, Robert Miller, who Kevin considered a brother, his wife, Vicki and sons, Mason, and Caleb Miller. Kevin is survived by 13 great nieces and 6 great nephews. Kevin was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Oral John Polan and Blanche May Polan and paternal grandparents, Levada Elizabeth Nicholas Snider, William C. Nicholas, and John Herman Snider of Salem, WV, mother, Addie Oneta Perine, mother-in-law, Wilma Lee Shaffer, father-in-law, Eldrid Paul Shaffer, Sr. (Bucky), brothers-in-law, John Kenneth Shaffer Sr., Thornton Whirley Shaffer and sister-in-law, Tracy Lynn Shaffer, all of Morgantown. Kevin had several passions including woodworking, gardening/flowers, his boat, the Addie O, WVU football, tropical fish and animals, including his special pet, Cuddles. He and his wife built their home with the help of good friends. Kevin was talented and loved working with wood and building projects for their home, for family and friends. Kevin showed compassion for others and was generous with his time; he was a great husband, son, brother, uncle, neighbor and friend. Friends may call at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. on Sunday, October 7 and from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Dave Hood officiating. Interment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens. Very special thanks are extended to Karen Trump, RN, Morgantown Hospice, Dr. Darrell Saunders and the Internal Medicine staff.
