Kathleen Sperandio

Feb 6, 1931 — Jul 30, 2026

Kathleen J. Sperandio, cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home on July 30, 2026, at the age of 95. Born on February 6, 1931, she was a beloved daughter of Olie M. Huffman and Carrie R. Tressler, both of whom, along with her sister, Betty Lee Ferruso, preceded her in death.

Kathleen was a passionate supporter of the West Virginia University Mountaineers, cheering joyfully for both the men's and women's teams. Her enthusiasm was matched only by her love for family and the warmth she created during holidays, particularly with her memorable Christmas cookies.

A steadfast individual, she maintained a beautiful garden, diligently canning its bounty to nourish loved ones and friends. Even in recent times, Kathleen was known for her resilience, taking pride in mowing her own lawn and trimming her hedges, while relishing peaceful moments on her porch, surrounded by nature.

Her generosity and hospitality were well-known among all who entered her kitchen, a space filled with love and laughter.

Kathleen's loving spirit lives on through her children, Richard L. Sperandio of Cassville, Mary Kay (Steven) Solomon of Parrish, FL, and Patty Kay Sperandio of Cassville.

She leaves behind a legacy of connection through her grandchildren, Jennifer (Matthew) Caradine, of Morgantown, Tina Guschel (Lenny Boyette), of Wilson, NC,  and Angie (Adam) Sutton of Willow Spring, NC, and great-grandchildren, including Hannah Guschel, (Sampson Bagley) of Wilson, NC, Gavin Guschel, of Columbia, SC, Shelby Sutton of Conway, SC, Carter & Cohen Sutton of Willow Spring, NC, Catherine Caradine of Washington, DC, and Will Caradine of Morgantown. To them, she was affectionately known as Mammaw.

The joys of her life also encompassed a close community of friends, neighbors, and extended family who shared countless sporting events and cherished moments with her.

In addition to her parents and sister, Kathleen was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Edward L. Sperandio, and her faithful canine companion, Coco.

Friends and family will gather to celebrate Kathleen's life at Fred Jenkins Funeral Home, 10 S. High St., Morgantown, WV, 26501. The family will welcome visitors on Monday, August 3, 2026, from 4 PM to 8 PM, and again on Tuesday from 10 AM until the service at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
