Kathleen (Kay) Anderson Moore, 83, died Friday, August 10, 2012, at her home. Kay was born June 19, 1929 in Alaska (now Fort Ashby), WV, daughter to Charles E. Anderson and Elsie Lease Anderson. Moore, III and wife Becky of Weston WV and their daughter Haley Jill Moore and Crystal McMillen of Morganown; Charles A Moore and wife Renee of Morgantown and their 3 children, Adam Anderson Moore and Rachel Amelia Moore of Morgantown, and Marine Lance Corporal Vincent Samuel Moore currently stationed in Hawaii. She is also survived by her beloved caregiver, Margaret Huggins. In addition to her parents, Kay was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Dane W. Moore, Jr., and her brother Raymond Anderson. Kay was a graduate of Fort Ashby High School and went on to receive her BS in Nursing from Alderson-Broaddus College. It was while she was a freshman at A-B that she would meet her future husband, Dane, who received his degree in Medical Technology from A-B. Kay worked in Nursing Service at WVU Hospital for many years and positions she held included Supervisor of the Operating Room, Assistant Director of Nursing Services, and Interim Director of Nursing Services. During this time she also earned a Master of Public Administration degree from WVU in 1980. Kay was widely respected as a capable and compassionate administrator and is remembered fondly by many who worked at WVU Hospital during her time there. A member of the congregation of Goshen Baptist Church for many years, Kay (and Dane) were cherished by the members of that church and held many positions of leadership at the church and in statewide and national Baptist organizations. She was an inspiration to all who attended Goshen Baptist. With her family, Kay enjoyed the outdoors of her native West Virginia. She loved hunting, and fishing, and camping in the state - especially spring gobbler hunting. She made numerous quilts for friends and family. She wrote a memoir of her childhood growing up in Mineral County, "I Remember the Lease Home Place". She loved family life and was a devoted grandmother to her four grandchildren.
