June Core Myers, 93, of Morgantown passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2019, at the Mapleshire Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. June was born July 18, 1926, in Core, WV, a daughter of the late Campbell L. Core and Gilla M. Wright Core.She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Richard C. Myers.June graduated from Clay-Battelle High School in 1944 and West Virginia University in 1948. She received a degree in Home Economics with an emphasis on dietetics. Upon graduating from WVU, she accepted a position with the WVU Extension Service in Mineral County, serving as the Home Demonstration and 4-H Agent for eight years. She later served as a writer/editor with the Extension Communications unit based in Morgantown. After starting her family, she became a fulltime homemaker and community volunteer. She was a member of the Woodland United Methodist Church. She had a lifelong involvement with the WV 4-H program. She was an avid supporter of West Virginia University, especially its athletic teams. June served in numerous volunteer roles. A few of her favorites include editor of the Mended Hearts organization newsletter, co-chair of her high school reunion committee, and a knitter for the prayer shawl ministry at her church. Family and friends were important to June and offering hospitality, help, or a listening ear were special gifts of hers. She is survived by her three daughters, Debbie McDonald and her husband Grant of Greensburg, PA; Sandra Wiseman and her husband Robert of Glendale, WV; and Penny Segessenman and her husband Rob of Littlestown, PA.She was a proud Grandma to six grandchildren, Katie McDonald of Fairmont, WV; Emily McDonald of Washington, DC; Daniel Segessenman of Madison, WI; Heather Segessenman Weikert and husband Tory of Biglerville, PA.; Amber Segessenman of Littlestown, PA; and Robyn Wiseman of Baltimore, MD. The family extends special thanks and gratitude to the nurses, aides, and staff of the Mapleshire facility who took such exceptional and loving care of June in the months she resided there. Memorial contributions may be made to the West Virginia University Foundation and sent to One Waterfront Place, PO. Box 1650, Morgantown, WV 26507-1650. Please designate that they are to go to the Core-Myers 4-H Alpha Scholarship Fund. Friends and family will be received at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home, 10 South High Street, Morgantown on Sunday, November 24, from 3 7 pm and on Monday from 10 am until the time of the service at 11 am.
