Joyce Melita McClung Ayersman, aged 73, died peacefully on April 3, 2016 at the Fairmont Health and Rehabilitation Center, after a brief struggle with cancer. Joyce was born October 14, 1942 in Pulaski, Virginia, the daughter of the late Mason Desanky McClung and Harriet Sutphin McClung of Oakland, Maryland.
Joyce, thoroughly enjoyed athletics and the outdoors. She was an accomplished softball pitcher and bowler. She graduated from Southern Garrett High School and attended Business College. Joyce also worked 34 years as a Research Assistant for NIOSH.
In 1963, Joyce married, Willis Parker Ayersman Sr, who she met while attending school in the Washington D.C. area. They later moved to Morgantown, West Virginia where they raised their three children.
Joyce is preceded in death by her husband and son, Willis Parker “Buddy” Ayersman Jr.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Ronald “Mackey” and Tina (Butler) Ayersman of Fairmont, West Virginia and her daughter Brenda Ayersman of Morgantown; Six loving grandchildren, Holly Findley, Brandi, Britany and Jason Tennant of Morgantown, and Devin and Bella Ayersman of Fairmont; one great-granddaughter Violet Collins; a sister Joan Thomas and brother Jerry McClung both of Oakland, Maryland.
The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her last illness.
Visitation will be held at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Saturday, April 9, 2016. Funeral services will be at 6pm with the Rev. Allen Donham officiating.
