Joshua Patrick Patterson

August 11, 1978 — February 25, 2023

Joshua Patrick Patterson of Morgantown, born August 11, 1978, out-throttled the wings of his Guardian Angel on Saturday, February 25th, 2023 at the age of 44 on his Harley-Davidson.

Josh was a former GM-authorized technician who obtained the highest of education and certifications available for his line of work. Mechanics that knew him could attest to his abilities and knew what level of craftsmanship he was capable of. It hardly mattered if it was a lawnmower or the latest electric vehicle, there was no challenge that Josh couldn’t handle with extreme precision. Michelangelo had a paintbrush, and Josh had a wrench.

Josh fell in love with his home in the mountains and was an accomplished & proud outdoorsman who adored taking his friends and family - especially his young daughter and niece - on adventures near and far. Whether it was fishing at the lake he lived near or riding to one of the bike festivals held in the far corners of the country, he would drop everything if he thought an adventure was afoot.

Josh fulfilled every definition of an old school biker: his heart of gold was something that everyone saw in him and so dearly cherished, calling him an ally was an understatement and a privilege to those closest to him, and everything he ever did was “WFO.” He would stop at nothing to help anyone in need, be it friend or stranger.

Josh is preceded in death by his uncles Donnie and Bobby Justus, aunt Debra Patterson Provost, paternal grandparents William and Lucille Patterson, and maternal grandparents McDonald and Virginia Justus, who is likely giving him “that look” right now.

Josh is survived by his parents Dean and Suzanne Justus Patterson; his son, James-Dylan Patterson (Alyccia); a daughter, Kloe Wilhelm; a sister, Laura Reckart (Brandon); a brother, William “Bubba” Patterson (Erica), former spouse and mother to his son, Heidi Cogar; uncle William “Big Bill” Patterson (Kitty), aunts Kathleen Kirchmar (Tony) and Jennifer Golden; nephews Gage and Wyatt Reckart; nieces Ava Reckart and Savanna and Emma Patterson, and countless cousins local to Morgantown and Ohio. In addition to his immediate friends and loved ones, he will be deeply missed by cats Hazel, Orange, and Tommie; along with the countless deer and other wildlife that fervently enjoyed his company.

Josh will be sadly missed and will always hold a place in our hearts. We would love for you to come and honor his life at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Saturday March 4, 2023 from 3 PM until 7 PM.
