Joshua James Luzader, lovingly known as Josh to all who knew him, was a native and lifelong resident of Morgantown. Born on May 11, 1986, his cheerful spirit and big heart graced the world for 38 years before he passed away unexpectedly in his home in Morgantown on January 2, 2025.
The Luzader family mourns the untimely loss of a son, brother, uncle, and friend, whose absence will be profoundly felt every day. Josh leaves behind his devoted mother, Penelope 'Penny' McClurg Luzader; his brother, Denzil R. Luzader, III and wife Maranda; maternal grandmother Betty McClurg, who cherished her grandson deeply; and a host of loving aunts and uncles: Monica Taylor, Corinne Seese, Shawn McClurg, Barry McClurg, Cammie & Rick Tennant, Susie and Dave Lindsay, Michelle Luzader and Gerald Miller. His legacy will also be maintained in the hearts of his beloved nieces and nephew, Dezirae and Autumn Luzader and Charles Parks, as well as a close-knit tapestry of cousins including Barry McClurg, Jr., Kiersten McClurg, Nate Strickler, Rachael and Gabe Seese, Jessica Rogers, Amanda McClurg, Ricky Tennant, Melissa McDonald, Ashely Luzader, and David Crenner. Embracing all of his adventures and keeping his memory alive is his beloved canine companion, Ju Ju, who was more than a pet—Ju Ju was Josh's unwavering furry confidant.
Preceding him in passing were his father, Denzil Ray Luzader, II; his maternal grandfather Wendell 'Mac' McClurg; paternal grandparents, Denzil and Shirley Luzader; as well as his uncle Michael 'Mac' McClurg; aunt and uncle, Debbie and Dale Lease; and cousins, Nikki Rose and Zachary Seese. The profound impact of their earlier departures was a sorrow that Josh carried with him, though he continued to honor their memories through the fullness of his own life.
Josh was a proud graduate of University High School, Class of 2004. He worked in various roles around his beloved hometown of Morgantown, dedicating himself most recently to serving his community as a grocery clerk at the Sabraton Kroger. To his colleagues and patrons, Josh was a familiar face and a welcoming presence, someone who could always be counted on to lend an ear or offer a candid insight.
His determination and resilience were hallmarks of his character. Josh didn't have the easiest path to tread, and life presented him with challenges that would have daunted many. Yet he faced each obstacle with unwavering resolve, embodying the true meaning of perseverance even in the face of adversity. To those who loved him, he was an example of true bravery and an inspiration to move forward, no matter the difficulty.
More than anything, Josh was a people person. He never encountered a stranger he couldn't turn into a friend, and his candid remarks, though at times pointed, always arose from a place of genuine care and love. He cherished the time spent with family above all, creating cherished memories in every gathering. His mother, in particular, was a touchstone in his life, evidenced by their frequent phone calls that were as much a part of their day as the sunrise.
Josh's larger-than-life personality was matched only by the unpredictability of his hair color, a whimsical expression of the vibrant soul that he was. He was indeed a character, one whose presence could fill a room with joy, laughter, and sometimes a hint of surprise.
In bidding farewell to Joshua James Luzader, we celebrate the vibrancy he brought into our lives, the unwavering love he had for his family, and the joy he shared with everyone he met. His spirit, while no longer in our midst, lives on in the stories we share, the laughter he inspired, and the tender memories we hold close. May his adventurous soul rest in eternal peace, and may his memory be a beacon of love and resilience for all who knew him.
