Joseph Wayne Savage

Joseph Wayne Savage, 63, of Morgantown, died Thursday February 21, 2013 at his home. He was born May 9, 1949, in Morgantown son to Mary Ellen Petrucci Savage of Morgantown and the late Bruce Savage, Jr. Joe graduated from University High School in 1967 and was then drafted into the US Army where he served two years in Germany during the Vietnam War. After returning home, Joe worked at Humphrey's No. 7 mine and retired from CONSOL with 24 years of service. He was a member of the Local UMWA 1058. He then went on to work 12 years for Mylan Pharmaceuticals and retired from the United Steel Workers Union Local 8-957. Joe was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He belonged to the Mount Morris Sportsman Association and the Bobtown Rod and Gun Club. He also enjoyed riding his Harley. In addition to his mother Mary Ellen Savage, Joe is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mrs. Rebecca Becky' Moore Savage; two daughters, Billee Jo Bodwell and husband Chuck, currently residing in Amarillo, TX, Courtney Sabo and husband Christopher of Mooresville, NC and son, Benjamin Savage and Holly Browning, of Tornado, WV; sisters, Karin Rife of Morgantown, LouAnn Cooley and husband Chuck of Star City; brothers, Bruce Savage and wife Frannie of Derry, PA, Mark Savage and wife Peggy and Monty Savage and wife Lisa all of Mt. Morris, PA. Joe loved and adored his grandchildren, Charlee, Adam and Samantha Bodwell, Austin, Camdin and Kellin Sabo, Aiden Savage, Alex Ables and Peyton and Parker Konchesky. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. Joe will be sadly missed by family and friends alike. Friends will be received at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Friday March 1, 2013 from 3-5 and 7-9pm and again on Saturday from 10am until time of services at 11am with Rev. Kevin Cain officiating. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations can be made In Memory of Joe Savage to the Bill Long Scholarship Fund Mt.
