John M. Morton, 87, formerly of Westover, passed away Thursday July 18, 2013 at Hope West & Hospice Care Center in Grand Junction, CO. He was born June 28, 1926 in Uffington, WV a son to the late Walter Vaden and Lucy Ellen Sergent Morton. John served his country honorably as a member of the U.S. Army. He worked as an electrician for 25 years for the U.S. Forest Service. He is survived by a daughter Jean DeBerry and husband Michael of Grand Junction, CO; grandson Robert DeBerry and wife Heather; three great grandchildren Maisy, Greta, and Lincoln DeBerry all of Wasilla, AK; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his beloved wife Dorothy Gail McKinney Morton and two sisters, Russie and Edna and one brother, Walter. Friends will be received at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home Monday July 22, 2013 from 6-8pm and again on Tuesday from 10am until the time of funeral services at 11am with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens with military rites conducted by Westover VFW Post 9916 and WVANG Honor Guard of Camp Dawson, Kingwood, WV.
