John Wesley Jackson, Jr.

John Wesley Jackson, Jr. "Junie" was born February 13, 1948 - the oldest son and 4th child of the late John Wesley Jackson, Sr. and Velma Carol Dale Jackson of Osage West Virginia. He is preceded in death by a brother, Richard A. Jackson "Bunkie", adopted sister, Martha Marbury, and niece, Bernice Couch. "Junie" was an avid athlete. In addition to his athletic skills, he held many positions: As a coal miner he worked his way up through the ranks to mine foreman at Consolidated Coal and mine foreman and Asst. Superintendent at American Electric Power. As an entrepreneur he operated several mines and quarries throughout the region. He also successfully owned & operated several businesses in Morgantown and Osage. He civically served as police, chief of police and Mayor of Osage. He accomplished many skills in life to include graduating with an Associate's Degree from MTEC majoring in computer-aided drafting, earning a pilot's license and becoming an Emergency Medical Tech (EMT). Finally, in his later years, "Junie" was a Security Supervisor for Raspa Security. He leaves behind his loving wife of 49 years - Betty Clark Jackson; four children: Anthony (Patricia) Marbury of Crozet, Virginia, Felecia Perea, Wesley (Misty) and Tara (Cedric Lewis) Jackson of Morgantown; and 10 grandchildren: Emily & Natalie Marbury, Alexis, Misael, Cecelia, Rossi, Elija, Ethan, Melque, Kaleil and one deceased. He is also survived by three sisters: Bernice Woods Brown of Marietta, GA; Norma Cottingham of Osage, WV and Shirley Cottingham of Westover, WV and 4 brothers all of Morgantown, Leonard, Larry (Roberta), Charles "Alli" (Sharon) and Ken (Diane) Jackson, three aunts, a host of nieces, nephews and countless other relatives and friends. Friends may call the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Wednesday May 7, 2014 from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm and again on Thursday May 8, from noon until time of services at 1pm with Rev. Kevin Cain and Pastor Gwen McKinley officiating. Burial will follow at the East Oak Grove Cemetery.
