John W. Hilling, Jr.

August 27, 1937 — October 24, 2013

John W. 'Coach' Hilling, Jr., 76, of Dellslow, passed away Thursday October 24, 2013 at his home. He was born August 27, 1937 the son of the late John, Sr., and Etta McDonald Hilling. He was Christian by faith. John was formerly employed by WVU Hospitals. He enjoyed working crossword puzzles, reading, gardening and especially loved telling stories of days gone by. His outings with friends were greatly appreciated and meant a lot to him. He is survived by two sisters, Nellie Kinnear of Baltimore, MD, Linda Maxon of Myrtle Beach, SC; sister-in-law Patricia Hilling of Morgantown; step daughter and spouse Michelle and Neil Eddy of Core and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Joyce Murray Hilling; three brothers, Dave, Wayne and Jackie and two sisters Gladys Turner and Virginia Harkins. Friends may call at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Monday October 28, 2013 from 6pm until 8pm and again on Tuesday from 10am until time of services at 11am with Pastor John Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at the Nicholson Chapel Cemetery. The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Brandon Byron and Care Partners for their care and concern. Also an extra special thank you to George and Beulah Murray and Mark and Christine Dunn, without their assistance John would not have been able to maintain his wish to remain home.
