John W. Donnelly

John W. Donnelly, 66 of Morgantown passed away Sunday May, 9 at home surrounded by his loving family following a courageous and fearless battle with cancer. Born July 24, 1943 in Frostburg, MD, he was the son of the late John W. and Emma Grace (Spitznas) Donnelly. He worked in the banking industry for 25 years and was active in many banking associations. He was employed as an office manager at Precision Staffing Services Inc. with his wife. John graduated from Notre Dame High School, Clarksburg Business College and earned a B.A. degree from Salem College. He was a member of St. John University Parish where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. He is survived by his loving wife Jennie L. “Penny” Donnelly; two daughters Elizabeth Peroni and her husband Bryan, and Melissa Cloussen, and her husband Robert, and two sons Shawn Donnelly and his wife Tamara Duell, and James Donnelly; a sister Katherine Phillips; and three grandchildren Alexander and Sarah Peroni and Claire Donnelly; three stepchildren and one step-great-grandchild also a nephew, various nieces, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Sharon Wakefield and a nephew David Phillips. An avid camper, fisherman and train collector, John was a regular patron at a nearby farmer’s market where he carefully selected fresh fruits and vegetables for canning with his wife. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 15 at 11a.m. at St. John University Parish. Friends may call from 9a.m. until the time of funeral mass at 11a.m. with Father Bekeh Utietiang. Inurnment will follow at St. Mary’s Peace Garden Mausoleum, Star City, WV. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John’s name to the St. John University Parish Building Fund, 1481 University Ave, Morgantown, WV 26505.
