Joe Bender, 71, of Morgantown, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2026, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born August 19, 1954, in Bridgeton, NJ, a son of Joan Bender and the late Edward Bender.

He served his country as a member if the United States Army.

Joe worked in a variety of roles throughout his life, but he especially found joy in his time as a martial arts instructor, where he was able to share his knowledge and passion with others. In his free time, he loved listening to music, particularly The Beatles, and playing the guitar, something that brought him both relaxation and happiness.

In addition to his mother, he leaves behind his beloved wife of 37 years, Cindy Bender; his son, Joe Bender, Jr.; his daughters, Jade Bender and Brandi Bender; his brothers, Eddie Bender and John Bender; and his cherished grandchildren, Jasper Gardner, Maya McDougal, Michael, and Isis.

Honoring Joe's wishes, there will be no services. Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home 10 S. High St. Morgantown, WV 26501 is assisting the family with cremation arrangements.
