JoAnn Groves, a beam of light and a cornerstone of her family, passed away peacefully at Mon Health Medical Center in Morgantown, WV, on January 22, 2024. Born in the charming town of Hephzibah, WV, on November 7, 1934, JoAnn lived a full and vibrant life before succumbing to natural causes at the age of 89.
A proud high school graduate, JoAnn devoted her life to creating a warm and loving home, supporting her husband Melvin as he operated the renowned Melvin's Transmission in Morgantown. She shone in her role as a homemaker, filling the house with love, laughter, and an unwavering sense of family.
Though preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Cleona Smith, her beloved husband Melvin Groves and beloved daughter-in-law Kimberly Groves, JoAnn's legacy continues through her cherished family.
She is survived by two sons, David Groves of Morgantown and Tracy Groves, along with his wife Tricia, of Daytona, FL. Her spirit also lives on in her four granddaughters and four great-grandchildren, who will lovingly remember her nurturing presence.
JoAnn's zest for life was evident in her passions. She cherished the many adventures of traveling and relished the years spent wintering in sunny Florida with Melvin. Her love for exploration and the joy she found in the simple pleasures of life will forever remain a treasured memory for those who knew her. JoAnn's life was a journey of love, care, and warm compassion, and she will be profoundly missed by everyone whose lives she touched.
The family will honor Mrs. Groves’ wish for a private ceremony. She will rest beside her husband at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
