Jimmie L. Solomon

Jimmie L. Solomon, 87, of Morgantown, WV, passed away February 18, 2015, at Windy Hill Manor, in Kingwood, WV. The son of the late Frank and Julia Gourash Solomon, he was born April 7, 1927, in Morgantown, WV. Jimmie was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He worked as a coal miner for Consol for 47 years and enjoyed farming. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Alice Hedges Solomon; a son and his wife, James and Pamela Solomon of Virginia Beach, VA; two daughters and their husbands: Sherry and Jody Everly of Morgantown, WV and Janet and Joe Whipkey of Morgantown, WV; two granddaughters, Shannon Thornhill and Kara Jaggie; two great-granddaughters, Emma Dae Thornhill and Paige Jaggie; a brother, Eddie Solomon; and a sister, Virginia Smerdell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters: Stella, John, Frank, Mary, Stanley, Helen, Bill, Theodora, Victor, and Daniel. Private services were held on Friday, February 20, 2015. Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home assisted the family with the services.
