James Allen 'Joe' Walker

James Allen ‘Joe’ Walker, 74, of the Kingwood Pike, Morgantown, died Thursday, December 21, 2017 surrounded by his family at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, with whom he made his home since 2009.

Born January 16, 1943 in Morgantown, he was the son of the late James Jackson Walker and Margaret Ethel Stimmell Hagedorn Walker. He was a member of the IBEW Local No. 596 having completed fifty years of service.

He enjoyed working on cars and machinery. He loved building things out of scraps of metal and spent many hours in his garage until his health would no longer permit.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law; Kelly Jo Walker Zinn and Michael Zinn; his nephew, Charles David Stimmell, who he considered a brother, and wife Norma Stimmell; his former wife and friend, Pauline Walker and many nieces and nephews. Joe is also survived by his dog, Charlie and two cats, Tommy and Tina.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Viola Stimmell Stewart and one brother Charles Richard Hagedorn.

The family would like to thank Debbie DeSantis, WV Caring Hospice and the 6th floor nursing staff of Mon Health Medical Center for the excellent care provided to Joe.

Family and friends will be received at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home, Tuesday, December 26, 2017 from 4pm to 8pm and again on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 from 10am until the 11am service with Pastor Norma Stimmell and Pastor Lynda Masters officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hills Cemetery.

Prior to his passing, Joe requested, donations in lieu of flowers to the WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital PO Box 8200 (ROCII) Morgantown, WV 26506 and/or WV Caring Hospice, PO Box 760 Arthurdale, WV 26520.
