James Russell Evans

James Russell Jim' Evans, 82 of Dorsey Ave., Morgantown passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer on Friday, March 23, 2012 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born March 16, 1930 in Wheeling, WV son of the late Russell and Wilma Seabright Evans. Jim was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Jim retired from Sysco as a salesman and previously worked for Independent Beef. After his retirement Jim could be found working in the club house of Mountaineer Golf Course. He also loved to spend time with family and especially enjoyed his son's boat. Jim is survived by his two daughters Jan Eddy and husband Dave of McCurdysville, WV and Connie Sanschagrin and husband Dan of Morgantown; one son Richard Rick' and Linda Evans of Morgantown and one grandson Nick Murry also of Morgantown. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Alberta Evans. Friends may call at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Monday March 26, 2012 from 3-5 and 7-9pm and again on Tuesday from noon until time of services at 1pm with Chaplin John Hardman officiating. Burial will follow at the East Oak Grove Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff of the skilled nursing unit and 9 East and West of Ruby Hospital for their exceptional care and special thanks to Dr. Wang, Nurse Jamie of 9 East and Frankie of the skilled nursing unit. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in memory of Jim to the American Cancer Society 122 South High Street Morgantown, WV 26501.
