James H. Mcgilton

James H. Jimmy' McGilton, 85, passed from this world to the next on Monday February 10, 2014 at the Golden LivingCenter. James was born in Monongah, WV, on September 10, 1928, the eldest son of the late Homer C. and Lucy E. Croaston McGilton. Jimmy was known by many as the Man About Town,' for years he and his brother Homer sold newspapers and campaigned for many delegates and public officials. Jimmy also sold pencils and watched parking meters for those in town. For 65 years there wasn't a morning that passed, that he wasn't in town. Jimmy never forgot a face. His memory was still as sharp as it was years ago. Jimmy was well liked and loved by many. He is survived by his brothers, Ronnie (Diana L.) McGilton of Independence, Roger (Diana S.) McGilton; special sister Barbara Tennant, sister Louella May' (Donald) Bolyard all of Morgantown. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Homer, Paul, Elvis Jesse', Charles and Franklin; sisters Rosanna Boyers and infant sister Little Helen; nephews Willard Juni' Layman, John P. McGilton and Jesse McGilton, Jr. The family would like to thank all the families that stopped by and saw Jimmy and were ever so generous with their gifts. Also special thanks to the staff of the Golden LivingCenter for their wonderful care and patience these last seven years. We could never have made it this long without them. Friends may call at the Grafton Road Church of God on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014 from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm and again on Thursday from 12 noon until time of services at 1pm with Pastor Lee Green officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Goshen Road. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Grafton Road Church of God, C/O Pastor Lee Green 304 Webster Ave., Morgantown, WV, 26501
